OCR options
OCR
Many OCR [Optical Character Recognition] software programs are increasing their flexibility to recognize (or learn to recognize) various non-Latin and Latin-based scripts. If you already have an OCR product, check to see if an upgrade or plug in has been created for Cyrillic (or other script).
- Abbyy FineReader — Most people seem to recommend this software for Russian and other Cyrillic texts.
If you have had other experiences (good or bad) with OCR and Cyrillic or East European texts, please let me know at brewerm@u.library.arizona.edu and I will add them to this list.
