- Baltic biographical archive - This is a microfiche set owned by only a few libraries. However, the index to the set is available for free online at http://www.saur-wbi.de/ You can get the bibliographic information here to request what you need through your library's Interlibrary Loan service.
- Deiateli SSSR i revoliutsionnogo dvizheniia Rossii: Entsiklopedicheskii slovar' - A reprint edition of parts 1-3 of volume 41 of the 7th ed. of the Granat Entsiklopedicheskii slovar' , this contains biographies of 289 persons prominent between 1917-1927, many of whom cannot be found in any later Soviet reference works.
- Dictionary of Russian literature since 1917 - Provides biographical information on over 600 Russian authors since the Revolution.
- Dictionary of Russian women writers - Covers lives and works of 448 Russian women writers from 1760 to 1992 .
- Free voices in Russian literature, 1950s-1980s : a bio-bibliographical guide - Gives biographical data on over 900 authors whose publications appeared in the West from the mid-1950's to the mid-1980's.
- Leaders of the Russian Revolution - On microfilm. Documents reproduced from the Russian Centre for the Preservation and Study of Documents of Recent History./ "(The Cambridge Project)"/ Accompanied by printed guide, entitled: Leaders of the Russian Revolution : a guide to the microfilm collection.
- The Modern encyclopedia of Russian and Soviet literature - An ongoing series. Currently at 10 volumes. Consists of articles on authors, literary movements, and cultural figures in Russian/Soviet literature.
- Polskie Archiwum Biograficzne. (Polish Biographical Archive) - Few libraries own this microfiche set. However, the index to the set is available for free online at http://www.saur-wbi.de/ You can find the bibliographic information you need to request what you need through Interlibrary Loan.
- Public figures in the CIS and Baltic States: a biographical index 1984-1993 - On microfiche. A cumulated biographical index to public figures in the Soviet Union and then the CIS and the Baltic States, giving users detailed references to articles, news items, and transcripts of speeches from a wide range of sources. Compiled by staff of Radio Liberty Research, the index contains some 250,000 Russian language entries on 100,000 people.
- Russisches Biographisches Archiv [Russian Biographical Archive] - A remarkable resource. Consists of approximately 160,000 bibliographical entries for 75,000 individuals from the earliest times to the end of the dynasty of the Romanovs in 1917. Compiled from more than 150 source works published between 1827 and 1995. In Russian with some English, French & German. The index is available for free online at http://www.saur-wbi.de/
- Soviet biographical archive 1954-1985. (Biographisches Archiv der Sowjetunion [1917-1991] - On microfiche. With one million clippings from over 35 newspapers and magazines and abstracts on over 50,000 people, the Archive is an invaluable source of information for governmental and international organizations, scientific and academic institutions, the media and individual researchers. Entries mostly in Russian and English, with some in German, French and Portuguese.

- Biography and genealogy master index - An index to hundreds of sources with biographical information on people worldwide and from all time periods. Does not give actual biographical information, only information on which reference resources one can find that information in .
- The Complete Marquis' Who's Who - Available through the Biography Resource Center, this online database gives fulltext access to the Complete Marquis' Who's Who as well as hundreds of articles and other fulltext information.
- Kto est' kto? (Who's Who in Russian) - Gives biographical information on important personages in Russia. In Russian.
- Russian Genealogical Site (All Russian Family Tree) - This is a pretty amazing site for Russian genealogical research and biographical information. Mostly in Russian.
- Wilson Biographies Plus - A surprisingly comprehensive resource for biographical information. Contains the fulltext of over 100 print volumes. Searchable by name, profession, title, place of origin, gender, race/ethnicity, date of birth, date of death and keyword.
- World Biographical Index - An index of more than a dozen large (and very expensive) biographical microfiche sets put out by Saur. This index gives the necessary bibliographic information to request copies of this information through Interlibrary Loan. A terrific way to get access to otherwise inaccessible data.
