Subcommittee on Copyright & Licensing
The goal of the Committee on Libraries & Information Resources [CLIR] Subcommittee on Copyright Issues is to promote knowledge of copyright for the benefit of librarians, scholars, and educators in the field of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies.

Scope & Charge of the Subcommittee

The Subcommittee on Copyright Issues originally formed as a working group within the AAASS Bibliography and Documentation Committee in April 2003. It became an official subcommittee in June 2005.

The committee's charge is to promote copyright education and training in the field of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies; to provide a means for communication in copyright matters relating to libraries and educational institutions; to participate in national and international discussions on copyright for libraries and educational institutions; to organize and participate in panels on copyright for Slavic, East European and Eurasian materials at major scholarly conferences; to monitor relevant copyright and intellectual property legislation; and to maintain current awareness of international developments in copyright and intellectual property affecting works produced in Slavic, East European and Eurasian countries.

The scope of the committee's work embraces library-related activity including reproduction, interlibrary loan, preservation and replacement, reserves and electronic reserves, and digital projects. It also encompasses education-related activity such as classroom use of works, distance education, audiovisual materials, and use of Slavic, East European and Eurasian material in scholarly publications.
