Archives - Basic Projects grants are administered by the The National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) which promotes the preservation and use of America's documentary heritage essential to understanding our democracy, history, and culture. The Commission is particularly concerned that some historical collections in archives and repositories are difficult for most researchers to find because they are not processed or represented in national catalogs. It hopes to encourage repositories to reveal these "hidden collections" by concentrating on materials in their "backlogs."

Scholarly Editions Grants - Funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities to support the preparation by a team of at least two editors and staff of texts and documents that are currently inaccessible or available in inadequate editions. Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections - This grant is awarded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections helps cultural institutions meet the complex challenge of preserving large and diverse holdings of humanities materials for future generations by supporting preventive conservation measures that mitigate deterioration and prolong the useful life of collections. As they strive to be effective stewards of humanities collections, cultural repositories are increasingly interested in sustainable preservation strategies.
