Grants & Revenue - FAQ
If I am applying for a grant to fund a speaker do I need to follow the UA Library process?
It depends. If the grant is from a government agency, both Library and University processes need to be followed. If the grant is from a private source, the Grants & Revenue Manager should be consulted to make sure Library and University procedures are followed, if required.
If my functional team agrees to move forward on a grant, do I still have to follow the UA Library process?
Yes, you still need to engage other stakeholders in the process.
How much time does it take to apply for a grant?
A minimum of 2 months lead time is needed to ensure that a complete and accurate proposal is submitted and all the signatures required are gathered. Don't wait until the last minute!
Would I be able to follow the process if I find out about a grant only a week before a proposal would be due?
This is highly unlikely.
What if I am working with a variety of people across campus and our project is confidential such that I am unable to describe the details of the project fully for library-wide consideration?
First, consult with the Grants & Revenue Manager who will give you advice on how this can be handled in the Library. It will still be important to get other stakeholders involved; however, you probably won't have to send a Notification of the proposal to the entire Library.
