Library Volunteer "Hiring" Process
The University of Arizona Libraries accepts and encourages the volunteer support within appropriate programs and activities. For individuals wishing to donate volunteer hours for Community Service, the procedures are the same.
Volunteers are individuals who perform duties for the Libraries and CCP, but are not paid for their services. The Libraries reference the University of Arizona Human Resources’ Guidelines for Affiliates, Associates and Volunteers (Volunteers are discussed on page 3).
- The team needs to provide an appropriate job description and obtain a signed Volunteer Service Agreement Form from the volunteer for Library (HROE) records for accidental and state liability insurance coverage. Provide a copy of the form and the position description to the volunteer and to HROE. Please write the team for which the volunteer is working.
- Criminal background checks are not required for volunteers unless they serve in a security sensitive position.
- Please check with HROE prior to assignment if volunteer will be performing work outside normal parameters.
- Please consult with HROE if Volunteer is under the age of 18 years.
