Library Funds for Professional Development, Training & Travel
The Library has several ways to fund professional development, training and travel that support strategic goals. Updated 08/08, 09/08, 10/08, 3/09 (LFA).
Faculty or Appointed Professional Development & Travel Fund ($45,500) supports individual scholarship, service and learning for Library Faculty and Appointed Professionals. This includes conferences, professional committees and presentations. Funding is requested by using the Leave/Travel/Professional Activity Application Form. For further information about Professional Travel, including travel allotments, please see the LFA Professional Travel page.
- UA Library Faculty & Appointed Personnel Professional Activity Fund Guidelines (06/06; updated 03/09) still apply.
- The Professional Activity Fund has $45,500 for LFA and non-ranked appointed personnel for FY09-10. The individual allocation will be $1100 per person in FY09-10. Additionally, $15,000 was budgeted for those attending all 3 ALA conferences this year.
- For those of you who go to ALA meetings, it’s important to remember that the FY09 LFA Officers requested and Cabinet approved an additional $15,000 to provide support for individuals who need to go to all three ALA meetings this year. To clarify further, only those individuals who have gone to both the 2009 ALA Annual Conference and the 2010 Mid-Winter Meeting will be eligible for additional funding for the 2010 ALA Annual Conference. The allocations for the third ALA will be calculated later in the spring when more accurate information about number of people who are eligible is available.
