Probation
Probationary Period:
Newly hired or rehired Regular Classified Staff and Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) employees shall serve a six (6)-month probationary period. Employees who are promoted or transfer to a different department will serve a three (3)-month probationary period in the new position.

Time in Position Requirements: (Classified Staff Only) Newly hired Regular Classified Staff and Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) employees must complete their six (6)-month initial or reemployment probation period before seeking employment with another University department.
Holidays: New hires will be paid for holidays during their first six* months.
Sick Leave: A Classified Staff employee is eligible for sick leave during the initial probationary period with the following condition: Sick leave is limited to the amount the employee has earned and shall be recovered from the final paycheck if the employee terminates prior to completion of the probationary period.
Vacation Leave: During the initial probationary period (six* months), Classified Staff accrue vacation from date of hire, but may not take vacation leave until successfully completing probation.
