Dissertations provide references to research studies, reports, and articles on a particular subject. Doctoral students are required to do a very thorough review of publications in their research field. They generally contain extensive literature reviews and bibliographies.
Proquest's Dissertation and Theses Full Text database is a good place to start.
Proquest's Dissertation and Theses Full Text is an index of all doctoral dissertations and some master's theses from most North American and many European colleges and universities. Dissertations published from 1980 forward include 350- word abstracts written by the author. Master's theses published from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. It includes full text of most theses from 1966 to the present.
