Some Tips for Spec'ing out Hardware
Our current minimum basic configuration (e.g. Gateway E-6610D) for staff and public workstation follows:
- (Gateway E-6610D)
- Intel Core Duo Processor E6700 @ 2.66GHz
- 2 GB DDR2 RAM
- 256MB Video Card
- 19" LCD Widescreen HD Flat Panel Display
- 160 GB or better Hard Drive
- Built-in Sound and Ethernet Cards
- 16X DVDRW/CDRW Combo Drive
- Windows XP Professional SP2 Operating System
We suggest budgeting approximately $1500 for such a configuration. However, we often order large quantities which can result in lower per PC costs.
Additional considerations:
- Network data connections ~$800 if no network ports/jacks are available, ~$300 to activate existing network port/jack
