Call for Participation
on the
KnowNet Strategic Project Team
for the 1996/1997 Access Goal
The Access APT is soliciting expressions of interest for participation on
the KnowNet Project.
We ask that you consider the priority of strategic project work
within the Library:
"“It is important to remember that project team assignments become
part of the primary work of the individuals appointed to those projects.
Project team members and their home teams may need to negotiate ways for
the team to cover some of their current responsibilities so they can
devote an appropriate amount of time to the project."
” -- quoted fromSLRP’s email message of June 8, 1996
re: 1996/97 Annual Plan Project Teams.
The charge to the KnowNet project team will include the following:
* Design a subject oriented framework, which will be incorporated into
existing library web pages, and from which selectors' subject pages will
be accessed.
* Coordinate, encourage, train, and support the development of subject
specialists' home pages that will incorporate resources identified in the
environmental survey, as well as selected quality Internet resources
selected, using existing policies. Foster an environment in which, and
develop a mechanism by which, continued maintenance is valued and performed.
* Perform an environmental survey of knowledge bases on campus, existing
in any format, and pass information to selectors for inclusion in their
home pages, and/or to Project 2 (CatNet) for cataloging.
The Team will be composed of 6 individuals who can collectively
contribute the following knowledge, skills, abilities, and qualities:
* Big picture thinking
* Detail-oriented thinking
* Knowledge of HTML and web page creation
* Experience in locating and evaluating web resources
* Strong interest in training.
Stakeholder Teams: LIST, FA/H, SET, SST, UST, RAMSC
While we have identified these teams as likely sources of the knowledge,
skills, abilities, and qualities needed for this work, individuals on
other teams may also meet the criteria for team membership. We encourage
all qualified Library personnel to carefully consider the project, the
nature of the work, what you could bring to the team, and .... volunteer.
Please submit statements of interest by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday June 19, 1996
