Project, Program & Portfolio Management in the Libraries & CCP

The University Libraries and Center for Creative Photography have chosen to implement the Brigham Young University (BYU) process for project management. To date, almost 70 staff members from the Libraries and CCP have been trained by Ernie Nielsen, consultant from BYU.  One more training session is planned for Spring 2009. An ongoing in-house training program will be developed and implemented to ensure that all staff will receive training as needed.

The position of Director of Project Management and Assessment was created to provide support and insure that the process is fully and effectively implemented across the Libraries and CCP.  The Portfolio Management Group (PMG) was established and appointed by the Restructuring and Implementation Teams to prioritize projects; monitor the current status of projects; understand issues around progress and support for these projects; ensure that team leaders are aware of issues or barriers facing project teams; and reassess priorities when current support is maxed out and a new project arises. The current membership includes three ex officio members (Robert Mitchell, Associate Dean; Steve Bosch, SLRP team leader, and Chestalene Pintozzi, Director of Project Management) and three Cabinet members (Pat Promis, Sharon Knowlton, and Michael Brewer).  The Director of Project Management leads the group.
